Markdown to Word (DOCX) converter
Paste Markdown or drop a .md file and download a real Word document: headings arrive as Word heading styles, lists as lists, tables as tables, and links stay clickable. The file is built in your browser, so the document never leaves your device.
Or drop a .md file on this box.
Runs entirely in your browser — your file is never uploaded.
How to convert Markdown to Word
- Paste Markdown into the box above, or drop a
.mdfile: a README, release notes, or a report you need to send as a Word document. - Choose the paper size and whether every level-1 heading starts a new page, then press Download .docx.
- The file is generated locally and saved by your browser. Open it in Word, Pages, Google Docs or LibreOffice: the styles are native, so the document stays editable rather than becoming a picture of the page.
What you get
- A real .docx, not an HTML file with a Word extension: headings use Word’s heading styles, which means the navigation pane, the table of contents and screen readers all work.
- Lists stay lists, tables stay tables (header row shaded, full width), and code blocks are set in a monospace font on a light background so code survives the trip through Word.
- Links are real hyperlinks and images are described in place. LaTeX and Mermaid blocks arrive as their source text: Word has no way to typeset them without an external service.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded?
No. The .docx is assembled in your browser with the same converter the editor’s export uses, and nothing is sent anywhere, which also means the tool works offline once the page has loaded.
Can I keep editing the result in Word?
Yes. It is an ordinary Word file: every heading, list and table is native Word formatting, so you can keep writing in Word, Pages, Google Docs or LibreOffice and the structure stays intact.
Are tables and code blocks kept?
Both. GFM tables become Word tables with a shaded header row, and fenced code becomes monospace paragraphs on a light background. Task lists arrive as ☐/☒ marks in front of the item.
What happens to math and diagrams?
They arrive as their source text. Typesetting LaTeX or drawing a Mermaid diagram inside Word would need an external renderer, and this tool never calls one.
Need the file the other way round?
The Word to Markdown converter reads a .docx in your browser and gives you editable Markdown back, or open the document in the editor to write before exporting.
